In the TMTRD Care Unit we have over 70 dogs, most with special needs. This is where our paralyzed, blind, and dogs with distemper in the brain live. Some of the others are extremely old or have socialization and trust issues due to traumatic experiences.
We have 8 staff members living in the Care Unit, which means our special needs dogs can be monitored 24/7. They take the dogs on walks, change bandages, perform physio and hydrotherapy, and administer medication. Starting each day at 5am, they keep the Care Unit clean, prepare food, and run the laundry machines all day. To work in the Care Unit is not just a job, it’s a labor of love. We’re grateful to have such a caring, dedicated team to care for our special needs dogs.
