Bok – Broken leg, bad condition

28 December 2018. After a post in one of the many “rescue” pages here in Thailand, we got the question around lunch time yesterday to look at this dog.

We arrived at the location around 1.20 pm and saw the dog lying in the sun, no water, full of ticks and fleas, wounds from uric acid on his ball sack, wounds on the paws, and as we know now, a broken leg.
We took the dog to the clinic for treatment.
In the post, there were no information that the dog had an owner, well it turns out he have.
After many turns and searching we finally got hold of the owner yesterday evening, and called her, to ease her stress on where the dog went.
She’s fine and understand it all.
We will treat the dog and hopefully can fix the leg, that has been broken for over a year now.

31 December 2019. The leg can’t be operated as it’s been too long time since the accident. If the owner would have take him to a clinic right away, he would be able to walk on all 4 legs. So, why didn’t they do that??

14 January 2019. Ok, here we go. We have consulted with a bone specialist at the Kasertsat University animal hospital, and we might be able to have Bok walk again. The procedure is called Gridlestone (look it up) and we will try. It can’t be worse as he can’t walk now. I’m seeing a chance here for Bok to be able to walk. Need some physiotherapy after the operation. We can manange, we have done it before. And spare me the negative comments, thank you. We always try. Help us try for Bok.

22 January 2019. The operation of Boks femur head have been done already, after consultation with a bone specialist from Kasertsat university hospital.
The femur head have been removed and the femur bone have been attached to his shoulder (in easy language)
Waiting to receive his first vaccination and after that to the foster for rehabilitation.

17 February 2019. The operation of Boks femur head have been done already, after consultation with a bone specialist from Kasertsat university hospital. The femur head have been removed and the femur bone have been attached to his shoulder (in easy language) He still can’t use his back legs, but we are trying and working on that daily. As the previous did not care for Bok after the accident he had, it will be a bit difficult. But we are doing our best.

8 March 2019. Bok Snipped already.
